Challenge In the aftermath of the Cold War, Mikhail Gorbachev sought to bring together some of the world's leading thinkers to explore the most pressing challenges facing humanity in the 21st Century. Solution Our team served as the founders of the first State of the World Forum,convened in San Francisco in 1995. We brought together with Mr. Gorbachev over 800 leaders from 60 nations, including President George Bush, Lady Margaret Thatcher, Deputy South African President Thabo Mbeki, Buddhist leader Thich Nhat Hanh, Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Taiwanese Premier Hau Pei-Tsun, Carl Sagan, President Oscar Arias and Jane Goodall, among others. The four-day discussions concluded with a global CNN live broadcast on issues of the 21st Century. |
